Figuring out the fuel for this year

It would be interesting to know WHO makes the Ford stuff, for FOMOCO.

It might be marketed under another Brand Name, and probably..at a cheaper price ?

Cetane Boost

It's not the truck, it's the sorry excuse for diesel fuel we are now getting at the pumps. When my truck was new, it was not uncommon to get 20+ mpg on highway driving. I'm lucky to break the 17 mpg mark now. Ditto on towing, I used to get 13 mpg towing my fiver, now it hovers around 9 to 10 mpg. I'm seriously considering getting the Ford cetane boost that the dealer service department tries to get me to buy every time I'm in there.

The cetane boost dosent make that big a difference for mileage. It is mostly used for lubrication purposes since the sulfur contenet is so low in the fuel u get these days. Its good for the engine but dont expect big increases in MPG.

Cetane Booster should add to the mileage. It boosts the power that a gallon of diesel delivers (more BTUs per gallon = more energy = better MPGs). It adds lubrication also.

Cetane alone does not improve mileage. BUT it helps the motor burn the the fuel better which in turn improves mileage. Now If you drive like a bat out of hell theres no help for that....lol
