I wrote this and sent it to my Dad today. I thought I'd share it:
I wanted to wish you a happy Father's day.
I also wanted to say thank you.
Thank you for the fishing trips when I was a kid.
Thank you for catching that teeny tiny little bass on a lure that was bigger than the fish.
Thank you for making me look good because I caught a fish 2" longer than yours.
Thank you for letting me drive the boat.
Thank you for renting the extra boat for my brother & I at the resort during vacation that one summer. It was a memory of a lifetime.
Thank you for sliding the truck & camper off the muddy road and into the ditch, kept from going over on its side only by a spindly little tree.
Thank you for giving me something to razz you about for over 40 years.
Thank you for helping me build my pine wood derby cars for cub scouts.
Thank you for having the confidence in me when I wasn't even a teenager, to let me do the tune-ups on your Pintos.
Thank you for letting me drive with my learner's permit to Eagle River to go camping on those holiday weekends.
Thank you for letting me test your explanation of what a "Continental Divide" was by pissing on it to see if half did indeed go one way, and the other half the other way.
Thank you for on Sundays, getting a Green Bay Press Gazzette for us to read.
Thank you for letting us melt our tennis shoes around the campfire and chase racoons up trees just for kicks.
Thank you for teaching us how not to use Coleman fluid to start a camp fire.
Thank you for the surprise visit when I was in the Air Force, fresh out of basic training, my first Thanksgiving away from home.
Thanks for that Thanksgiving dinner at KFC with me.
Love you,
Happy Father's Day
