LB,
I would not even consider anything less than "E" rated tires. I have them on my truck using a 285/75/16. I just bought 4 new tires for my sons jeep and went with "E"s on the jeep. The tires leoad and wear differently than "D" or "C" rated tires. I shopped around and bought 4 - 285/75/18 s for the jeep and have less than $850 mounted with lifetime balance and rotation. They were BFG AT TA KOs. I bought them online. Local tire shops (I like to buy local) were over $1200 at the cheapest and i just couldn't afford to buy local with that much difference.
Shop around it's worth your time and them you can really justify the "E" rated tires. My "E"s ride wonderful.
