F-250 or F-350??

Hello out there Supper Duty Fans… I am going to be a new owner of a Supper Duty Diesel truck soon.. I need some help in finding out what F-series I am going to need for what I am planning on doing for the next 5 to 10 years. I am planning on buying a 5th wheel that weighs about 14,000 fully loaded. I want to know if pulling the 5th wheel with a F250 will do just fine, or do I have to get a F350 to do the job.. I know people out there will say if you don’t want to feel that your pulling something behind you, go with the F-350. I really don’t at first want to have to get a 350 if I don’t have to. I need some real help in this area. It will not be a new one either. I am looking at a two to Three year old truck with low mileage. I also want since I have heard the only best about the 6.7L 8clylinder Diesel is the way to go.. I need to know is crew Cab or supper Cab bigger. Should I go long bed, or Short bed.. I need lots of room in the back seating for a pet carrier for two Cats… Please help me figure this out. I know the bigger the Better is always the way to go, but I need to know if 250 will be Just fine for me… Thank you for your help in this matter… Mark

I just wanted say, dude, you need to calm down a little. Posting the same post over and over won't get you responses any faster. People aren't always on here. You need to give them time to answer.

Unfortunately I have no useful info. I haven't towed anything that heavy yet. My boat is in the 5000lb range and I haven't even hooked it up yet. I went with the 250 because it should handle what I have planned in the future. I have the crew cab because I have kids. The dogs are going to ride in the bed under the camper shell.

Yes i do understand what you saying about the posting, but I am new to the forum, and thought that I was posting the same thing on all kinds of different topics, so I didn't think it was being posted on the same like pages... So thinking different places would help me get the right answers.. But any who, thank you for your info that you did have.

Absolutely get the F350, I see no reason whatsoever to get an F250 over an F350. You get a little more payload and the F250 runs out of payload very quick towing a 5th wheel. DRW is the way to go towing a 5th wheel but a lot of people won't consider a dually. After having both a long bed and a short bed I much prefer the long bed also. You don't have to worry about hitting the cab, you don't need a slider hitch, and more room in the bed to carry stuff. Your rear axle weight is where you'll be limited so the pin weight is your biggest factor. There is very little price difference and you gain a little more wiggle room.

I started with an F250 and was over my rear axle weight towing a 35 foot toy hauler with an empty weight just under 12,000 pounds and not hauling anything heavy in the garage. But, the toy haulers need some weight in the garage to offset the pin weight because they are typically pin heavy. I now tow with an F450 but like I said a DRW is the best option towing a 5th wheel in my opinion but if you're not getting a DRW truck the F350 is the next best option.
