06 F-250 that has a 4-5" lift put on by Ford dealer. Truck has 12k miles less then 1 year old. I hit a bump in road today at about 40mph and the front end started jumping very violently. I thought I blew a tire but found nothing wrong. I proceeded down the road and hit another big bump and same thing??? Truck is under warranty however they can't get me in for a week and I may be needing my truck to go on a trip before then. Any way anyone have any ideas?? I am thinking of even seeing if I could get a local shop to look at it if it will not cost too much to fix. I am in wpb,FL. Thanks to any help given.:thanks

check for bolts loose or missing, or sway bar links and/or bushings.

I think there were some issues with the new coil spring front suspension like that, but I cannot recall. Your Ford dealer will be the best bet as there likely is a TSB on that issue. Besides you have a warranty, use it! :D

Thats wierd it sounds like got a set of bad coils like they have coil binding to them. Try some spring rubbers for a temporary fix to stiffen the springs.

my thoughts are that if the ford dealer had a lift kit put on a new truck and sold it that way, (which more and more dealers are doing to get the lifted 4X4 buyers in the front door), the problem would lie within the lift kit.

just my thoughts. i wouldnt spend a dime going somewhere else, make ford fix it on their dime, not yours.

Sounds like the notorius DEATH SHAKE  that older ford solid axl coil sprung trucks had. I had a 79 bronco that did the same thing. Cheak your track bar bushings first and then make shure the drag link and track bar run perralel to each other. Also make shure the dealer used the proper drop brackets and pitman arm for the lift. That should give you a good start.

its called death wobble. go to some offroad forums and search for it. you're in for a fun time, its pretty hard to fix.

things to check, in order of likelyhood:

1) alignment. get a reallly good one by a shop that knows lifted vehicles. typically adding caster will fix it.
2) tire balance
3) tire pressure
4) track bar ends
5) tie rod ends, all of them. everywhere. replace them all at once. leaving one weak/worn out one will accelerate wear on any new ones you put in.
6) control arm bushings. (i'm not familiar with the ford coil suspension...is it radius arms? or what)
6) ball joints
7) wheel bearings
8) front shocks
9) worn out steering box

good luck. its a pita to track down and fix, because a lot of times its several components causing the problem.

you may get away with a new or doubled up steering stabilizer, but that is just a bandaid.

good luck
Paul

with 12k and under a year old, the bushings are all good. they left something(s) loose on the front end. put a wrench on EVERY bolt.

Ok something I noticed is the front tires (mud 35x12.5x17) hve very uneven wear on the tread. I have not rotated tires but with ony 12k mles could this have happened because I didn't rotate or did something cause them to wear like they did?
