diesels do not burn cleaner than a comparable gas motor but do get better mpg the emissions cycle from less to more depending on your foot and how you are fueling the truck the big emissions from diesels are particulates & microparticulates (soot) which is what they are cracking down on with the new emissions & fuel requirements. Europe uses particulate filters but US EPA regs require emissions systems to be maint free for 100k miles.

Currently ford is pusing a V6 in the LCF trucks (comparable to Isuzu NPR trucks) which is the 4.5L twin turbo diesel. I'm not sure on the engines fuel requirement but there are 2 sitting on the lot @ the local ford dealer. I'm personally thinking it would be nice to drop in a compact truck like a ranger :D

It might be a "tight fit" in a Ranger, but I think this is the engine that was rumored to go in the F150 and Expedition. When they make a diesel Expedition, I'm going to try to get another one (traded an 04 Expy on the 05 Five Hundred).

i remember reading some where that Ford has a "Baby Powerstroke" that they are using in countries other then the US:usa . that its a 6 cylinder and that it could possible become avaliable in the F-150 & expeditions... is this all just rumors or is there some truth?????
That engine has been in use and sold in the U.S. for about a year. It powers International and Ford "LCF" trucks. [Low-cab-forward] small box trucks, etc. Thats where the new style HCFM drain screw came from. It has a 2 stage turbo, not true dual turbo's. I drove 1. it was fairly impressive. No rumor, it exists. Would be a fine choice for F150 or Expedition, IMHO. I'm kind of shocked this is new news on this site. :roflmao

can't be too much tighter than a 302/351 or 460 in a ranger. seen/done/driven all of the above in rangers though the 460 requires loss of A/C. In my mental figuring I haven't figured out the downpipe & intercooler yet but the rest shouldnt' be much of a problem
