You only can get Ford's ESP at a Ford dealer. You can try to cut a deal if you want to. I paid something like $1200 when I got my truck. I have no idea what they want after the deal. Other companies will charge less, but you get less.

if youre under the 3/36k warranty then itll be cheaper but the last
time i checked they were over 3000 bucks ...and for what...the
truck has a 5/100k warranty anyway...

i got the esp for a number of reasons
we travle alot and its so much easier getting ford to fix stuff with thier warranty, than to call or get pre aproval from some other company, while sitting in a waiting room
got mine pretty cheap afew months after we bought the truck, cant remember off top of head but i think it was around 2k

Cost of Ford's ESP

Ok Guy's here it is..... At my local Ford dealership this is what they quoted me.

For the Premium Care ESP (top of the line) which has 500+ covered components, almost like having a bumper to bumper warranty for 6 years or 60 thousand miles. I looked at the plan and it covers just about every thing on the truck. The cost is $2870.00 and you could put down 10% and finance the balance for 17 months at 0%.

Now the time begins when the truck was put into service or the date you bought it....and it must still be under the 3/36 new truck warranty to be eligible.

Now that being said, If a transmission should fail or in the case of us 4x4 guys
a transfer case, the cost of repair could be at least 3 grand or more.
let alone air conditioner failure, etc, etc, etc, These trucks are complicated and not easy or cheap to fix.

Ford also offers a Powertrain Care ESP for the 6 years or 60 thousand miles for $2190.00 which covers 29 Powertrain components.

Bear in mind, this is Florida....... you might be able to do better in your state, you just have to check.

this is how ALL extended warranty programs work...if you take away
the 3/36 (factory) its really like your only buying 3/24k mi MORE from
the date the truck was bought (by the 1st owner).

it matters not if you are the 1st, 2nd or 5th owner of the truck (or car)
the contract begins when it was FIRST SOLD (in service date).

If i were looking for an extended warranty contract id be looking for
at LEAST 100k miles and dont let them kid you theyll work a deal
on these contracts (they are negotiable) AND you can buy them
AFTER the 3/36k expires (although it will increase the price).

you need to ask yourself which is gonna come 1st, miles or time...
and how long youre gonna keep the truck.

the engine is already covered til 5/100k w/ a 100 buck deductible...
so what is the extended warranty REALLY gonna have to cover ???
(certainly NOT the engine).

will it cover brakes & rotors ? (normal wear and tear parts) ?

then you gotta consider what the deductible of the extended plan
is, does it cover trip interuption insurance (towing, hotel, rental etc).

also if you NEVER make a claim do you get the money back ? or some
portion of it ? (many programs do refund).

how many trannies, transfer boxes & rear (or front) diff's have you
heard of failing ???

personally its a peace of mind issue...and imo i think youd be better
off putting the 2800 bucks in the bank...let it earn interest...if
your tranny or anything ELSE fails youll have the cash (and the interest).

Good point Bushpilot,
Lets ponder this for a moment.......Now I'm not trying to sell you a policy mind ya', but see if this makes sense. Like Robert and Maxtor and most of us , I'm an RV'er and tend to travel a lot.... I pull a Cedar Creek 36RLTS 38' fifth wheel trailer...... it's heavy.
I always do the regular maintance on my truck when it's needed, I take care of my truck as we all do. And hope for no break downs but it happens.

IF I had a tranny failure and had banked the $2800.00 I would have the monies to pay for that repair. That's it, done. Now as the miles rack up and something else goes wrong..... Whatever!!! If you had bought the policy with that $2800.00 your covered.

And if you happen to be out of town their would be virtually no problem getting Ford to honor the warranty. (I hope)

That's my thought......

pete you took the words right outta my mouth...a break down on the
road might be worth the price.

but w/ all the TOWING i read about I havent heard of any tranny or
rear failures either.

and im w/ you...not against you...just wanted to present some of
my THOUGHTS...all the failures i read/hear about are engine related
(which are covered by the factory 5/100k).

are you gonna get rid the truck when the 6/60 or 5/100 runs out ?
