Well (someone correct me if I'm wrong here) the diesel site one (and i assume the sinister one is the same) do nothing more than route the ccv gases out to the atmosphere. So, you're paying for rubber hose, some connections, zip ties, and a piece of pipe to go in place of the old ccv piece.

The expensive BD and Racor ones actually put the CCV gases through a filter, reroute the clean air back into your intake, and then catch oil that passes through the filter in a catch can that has to be emptied from time to time. Some people even take it a step further and route the catch can to drain back into the oil pan.

The expensive one's are really the "right" way to do it because you are polluting the environment. But, since its a more "sophisticated" system, its gonna cost you more...

I agree with JR on this one, too.

I went the Racor route.. but Mod'd it, to avoid what Racor wants for their filters... Way To Much, and they needed to be changed out (Filter Minder thingy) Way to often.. JMO.

Joe

On Edit: Mine empties/drains back into the VC though.

$300? Really? I dun think so. Anyone who takes pride in their work can do an A+ looking job for much less.

And as far as polluting? That volcano in Iceland just spewed more crap in the air in a few days than ALL man has done since the beginning of time, so Al Gore can bite me. :D

;):D I agree with you on that issue ....

I just didn't like the smell.

Origonaly, I went with the 'ol Blow By tube, from IH. The Odor & Spots on the driveway.. got to me. So I went to the (mod'd) Racor. No oil in the I/C system.. works fer me.

Anything.. is better than the OE set-up IMO.

Personal Choice I guess :dunno

I meant as far as actually making your own catch can and all. You can still get the same results just as well as a "bought" system. But then again, my truck is my hobby so I enjoy doing everything myself.

( That whole 300 buck thing got to me.) That's why I love this forum. So much knowledge that can save the average joe ( like me ) lots o mullah. We're all gonna need it next year hahaha.

exactly what i thought about it to nevrknow. i was amused by it since i didnt see anything extra special about the kit. I am interested in a catch can for when i do the ccv mod though. My wife gives me hell if i get oil stains in the driveway, and when i think about it, i'd like to avoid if i could. Anyone have an example of something crafty?

I've read that some people tap a hose from the ccv to the exhaust. If it was ME, I would do it at the tip....so it was still vapor and not clogging up my exhaust on the inside. Don't know if thats possible in the exhaust, but I've seen what it can do to an intake. I've also read that some people put a one way valve on it, guess so nothing can crawl/fly up in it:dunno I would be worried that the pressure from the ccv would be enough to open the

Of course that is still not "enviromentally friendly". I've that about something along the lines of the things that go in-line of air lines that take the moisture out of the air. I just dont see how that would work either because those have a lot of cfm feeding it.

interesting....i guess it would drip into the exhaust instead of in the driveway and would burn it out when the engine gets up to operating temp?
