Hello all.. Thanks in advance to all that post here. I have learned a great deal just reading what everyone has posted in response to the numerous questions that everyone puts on this board. So.. here is mine..

I have a stock 02 F250 and I want to begin the upgrade process on this truck. I recently camed across a fellow that had a similar truck to mine and he had a lot of aftermarket upgrades on his truck. He let me take it for a spin and I got hooked. His exhaust system sounded very good. On idle, there was a nice "whine" coming from what I would guess was the turbo? I think it sounded more like a whistle than a whine.. anyway.. he was not sure of the exhaust system he had put on. I would like to have a similar system, but not sure what to look for. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Howdy and welcome Beauxdru :welcome

The two most popular systems are the Magnaflow which produces a deep rumble tone and the MBRP which exhibits a louder raspy tone both which produce excellent results so you can't go wrong either way,it's just what you like to hear :sweet

Other alternatives to a complete system would be the Muffler delete,Walker BTM and Aeroturbine :burnit

Thank you very much. This might be a silly question.. and I am in NO way any type of mechanic.. but from what I have read.. a lot of people like the "Turbo Back" replacement systems, ie. MagnaFlow and MBRP.. I think I understood that the part that connects to the turbo is 3.5 inches and the pipes are 4 inches. Doesn't this still create a bottleneck?

welcome aboard
th e3.5 downpipes fit the turbo outlet flange which is 3.5, it stays 3.5 on the mbrp until after the cat or the delete pipe then opens up to 4.0
no problems, big difference with cat out, but if you have emissions inspections you need to be able to put it back on when not testing the cat for restrictions :D , I am still evaluating mine after 5k miles or so, :D

Thanks Chief.. I am in the Great State of Georgia.. so no emissions check for me. :)

Not real worried about the money part.. I dont want to get too crazy.. but I want to juice it up a little and I have been told there are FOUR areas that I must address..

Exhaust.. (Step 1)
Air Intake.. (Step 2) (looking at an AFE Stage 2)
Gauges.. (Step 3) ( I have NO idea yet)
Tuner/Chip.. (Step 4) Thinking about a DP Tuner?

If I have my list out of order.. please advise..

guages- exhaust preturbo in the manifold,, tranny temp, boost

exhaust- , no cat issues, i would lean on a magnaflow for ease of installation , or a mbrp
tuner/chip? I had one in my 02 and was very pleased. predator tuner, lots of good stuff with it

Intake, filtration ,

external fuel regulator mod, :sly my favorite, read here

i got a hog and have gotten several thumbs ups thousands of looks and its sounds great... but at idle it does sound stock no turbo whine until you hit the pedel... but as soon as you hit it you hear the whine even if you bearly touch it... but thats not from the exhaust thats from the programmer (chips do the same) i never really hear the whine loud unless i was hammering it until i turned the chip past the tow mode...

go AFE stage 2
get a gauge pod kit from anyone.
get a custom burned chip from like diesel site
and i suggest a FULL 4 inch exhaust... like hog and many others, Magana flow uses a 3.5 inch down pipe.. go for the full 4. im not sure about MBRP... i love my hog exhaust

Do you get the Hog Exhaust straight from Hog Performance?
