Alright, to start off, I have a 2006 F250 FX4 w/ the 6.0. I've got a cold air system, Bully Dog Triple Dog programmer, and a MBRP 4 inch Turbo-back exhaust system. I already had the cat-delete pipe installed, but this past week I decided to run straight pipe. I had to take it in to the dealer, so I put the MBRP muffler back in, and it sounds like a stock exhaust, there's no deep tone or whistling at all! Have I really screwed something up, or done something wrong? It just all doesn't make any sense to me

they dont care, they just said that they at least want a muffler on it so it's not straight piped. One of those deals where I put the muffler on, and they pretend like they didnt know it was an aftermarket exhaust. And why did you send me to a page that shows the definition of a muffler? I know what I muffler is, that's not my question. What I can't figure out, is why there is NO deep tone at all, it sounds exactly like a stock system, and it didnt sound that way before I took it off. I guess i'll just put the delete pipe back in and run it straight

How long were you runnin the muffler? I know when I put mine on the first little bit, it sounded like a stocker, but the more I run it, the louder it gets.

well, I know it's not just me. One of my buddies asked me if I took the aftermarket exhaust off when I saw him the other day and I had the muffler on, and he hadn't even heard it straight. Like seriously, there is no deep tone to it at all. As far as how long I had it on, i'm guessin no less than 6 months. I can't really remember when I bought it. I like the sound of the straight pipe, just not when I get on it really hard, wayyyy to loud. LOL

Not to insult you'r intelligence here on anything, but you didn't accidentally put it on backwards did you? Some aftermarket mufflers can be installed either way. One way for an aggressive sound and the other for a more mellow, stock sound.

Exactly

If you install it in one direction the baffles catch the sound waves. If you install it in the other direction the sound waves flow right through. I can guarantee you had in the "noisy"way before and now have it in the "correct "way. Diesel mufflers have been this way for quite a while. Look inside the muffler and it will all make sense.

yeah I understand what you're all saying, but i'm 110% positive that its on the same way because you could read the MBRP from the passenger side before, and MBRP is only on the muffler on one side, so I know I couldnt have had it flipped. Oh well, i'll flip it around the other way anyway and see if it makes any kind of difference! I do appreciate the help!
