Im curious about the RPM reference - he said it is most useful between 2500-3000? At 75 mph Im only at 2200. Was that a typo or is my setup not even a candidate?

Hum...NO...

It is a converter lock up controler, and a exhaust brake controler, I can set the lock up speed of the TC by holding the SET button on the cruise control, I can set the unlock speed by holding the COAST button, this is then all automatic. When I hold down the OFF button for 2 seconds the exhaust brake comes on, touch the gas, its off, let off again its back on...Turn the cruise on and the brake is off...

Yes it does use the EBV as the braking force... But it is way more then a "pigtail to cut up to use the EBV" as you put it:roflmao ...

I can set the TC to lock as low as 12mph and to unlock at 15MPH...

does that puppy work with the 6.0 and vvt?

how do i utilize the EBPV as a brake. and would i get better braking "power" doing it that way verses buying the unit from Pure Diesel?
You would follow the instructions that 95_stroker posted above. The braking power would be the same either way as the puredieselpower unit utilizes the EBPV just like the DIY method does. The only difference is the puredieselpower unit costs $99 and you can do it yourself for under $10. It might be worth the extra $89 if you don't have the time to hunt up all the parts and put it together. Some guys like to fab stuff up themselves others like someone else to do the leg work. It is all up to you which route you go but the finished product will operate the same either way.

Right from the puredieselpower website:
This module utilizes the Engine Exhaust Back Pressure Valve (EBPV).
This module does have a built in Torque Converter (T/C) lockup function. Most places charge extra for that feature.

I understand the concept and have all of the parts, but I am lost on which wires hook up to which terminals on my switch. Mine is a vertical DPDT center off switch with 6 terminals and I will not be hooking up the lights. Can someone assist me on which terminals have continuity? Also, which wire in the tranny harness is the TCC and is it ground switched or hot switched?
Thanks,
Jesse

You send a signal to the TCC wire through the diode. On my 4R70W, it's a grounded signal, I need to know which wire and if it is grounded like my 4R. Dieselpwrdredneck, do you remember how you wired the switch?

the one on my obs truck was a very simple design, a switch on my shifter actives a relay which inturn is hooked up directly to the EBP soleniod
P.S. i have the EBPV totally unhooked from the pcm

The EBPV doesn't need to be hooked up to the PCM, as long as the grey/red wire is getting a 12v signal and the other one is getting a ground, it will close. As for the TCC, I did some research and it is the purple/yellow (or blue/orange if it is faded) wire that sends a ground to the TCC to activate it. It is pin number 4 coming out of the 12 pin harness on the passenger side of the tranny. It goes over the driver's side and up to the PCM.
I think I figured out the wiring. My switch is horizontal, from the back it looks like this:
/ \ 1 2
I I 3 4
\ / 5 6
I was thinking:
1 12v
2 ground
3 EBPV
4 TCC
5 Brake light
6 ground

And wire just one LED to come on when the EBPV is getting 12v, wire 3 and 4 (basically only coming on with the TCC, which only comes on when the EBPV is closed) keeping the diodes in the same place mentioned above....sound right? Joat?
