Anyone replace their own ESOF hubs?

What kind of a job is it? I think I have a problem with the left front.

Better off to leave it to the Pros????

Any Help invited.

think your wife can remember to get out and lock them in when she needs to?

if so, throw the Ford ones away and put on a set of Warns

I have NEVER been a fan of Auto Hubs. I am with JL on this. Get rid of the ESOF hubs and get manual hubs (Warns).

I like my ESOF hubs. Just keep hub and oring maintained with some lubricant......also keep an eye on the rubber hoses that tend to dry rot.

I ditched mine years ago. It ended up being an temporary thing since I eventually upgraded to a Dynatrac kit later on.

After I had done the conversion, another forum member had asked about the project. So I grabbed the camera, put an old ESOF hub back on, and reenacted the conversion while taking pictures.

Click on the little webshots linky below and go to the "Auto to Manual Lockout Hub Conversion" album.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will start with the hoses first. Maybe I just have a leak.

Pictorial is very helpful Tailgunner. Does not look too bad.

Thanks,

Pull the locking mechanism off.......spray some lub in it and work the selector back and forth till it moves freely.......clean up the ID of the hub the oring mates with......clean and lube the external oring. Check the rubber hoses. Turn the ignition switch to the on position.........do you hear the vacuum pump running?
