I wonder if you have cackle??? It could be, the sound you described is not all that far off. If you do have cackle, and it won't go away, and you want to get rid of it, do some research on fuel system mods. Hutch mod, in-tank mod (the same thing as the Hutch mod), pre-pump mod, and the regulated return. I don't know for sure if it is cackle or not, but it could be.RickGmi said:I figure someone on here would probly know,
I recently as of just yesterday, have been hearing a new sound when the engine is warmed up at idle, it sounds real faint but sounds simular to the sound of a gasser with 1 spark plug pulled out while running..kind of a
mop-mop-mop sound.
kinda thinking injector but im not gettting any white smoke and the engine sounds smooth...
BTW, from every source I've ever read, cackle is harmless. It is just annoying is all...

Well I do plan on doing the crackle mods,soon.
But I really think it was the bearing going bad, since i did have a very slight weep hole leak for the past 2 months, and since the I did the water pump and do have a sshpx line installed the engine is really quiet, sounds really good, turbo nice and loud with all the extra noise gone, but the fuel system mods are comming up soon when i have time and another weekend to grab a hand full of tools and have a private party with my truck, Hoss Thank you for the advice but as far as crackle nothurting anything, I really dont think the cracle can not hurt in the long run if the injectors are getting air in them, Then there is nothing to cushion them as well as when they fire off, (kind of think the fuel acts like a buffer for the injectors), I feel the quieter the engine is the longer it will last, (But then I have worked around some diesels that sounded like they would blow up and you could'nt kill them if you tried...lol)
