Well been a while since my last post. I jus got in from a week long trip with the Misses and the youngest little mister. I carried my Harley on an open trailer (1000 LBS) . The SGII is shouwing EOT from 203 - 212. Myproblem is my Water Temp is only showing 188-191. One instance the WT went to 195. I know that temp is ot too high for Synthetic oil but the delta is around 20 derees at 70 MPH with 86 degrees ambient temperatue. Everyting seems to run fine.

Oil cooler was replaced 7 months ago. Fluid levels are constant with no loss. EGR, Water pump and thermostat was replaced as well at that time. To me it sounds like the oil cooler is clogging up but if my oil temps are not going over 212 is that a problem?

Thoughts from you educated people?

Sorry to hear you already did this, i just did mine.
I think after doing mine i would say the cooler is plugged again or you have a Tstat that is stuck, but you could pull it and check it easy enough.
I would say that if the water was running that cool the oil should be too.
Start by looking at the EGR and make sure it's dry soot, no wet paste on the valve.
After that the only thing i could think of would be to install a water filter and run it for a 1000 miles then pull out the cooler and put a new one in.
I did not put a filter in because i think after flushing my system 10 times i got most of the sand out. My new oil cooler has been running a delta of 3*-7* with an ambient of 102* and its had 400 miles put on since I did the new oil cooer install EGR delete.

I only flushed mine 5 times with block drains. EGR is not part of the problem that I can see. Coolant filter has been on for 27,000 miles. I believe the oil cooler is stopping up again. What a PITA to change especially the first time you are learing as you are going. I can change it a but the cost of the cooler and a Saturday worth of time is not my idea of happy.

Where did the magic Delta Number of 15 degrees come from?

yeah i wouldn't want to do mine again right away but it certainly is not as daunting as it was the first time around.
I just pulled my 10K rv today for the first time, my oil temp was 229* and the water was 222* at an ambient air temp of 98* so i am pretty happy and i guess i got everything hooked back up correctly.
the oil on a flat grade was 218* and the water was 213* I don't like that the engine fan does not start coming on until 218* and doesn't appear to hit full lock until 220*-222* but at least as the temp comes down the oil follows, it never got more than 8* apart on cool down.
Any How good luck at least you know what your doing this time.

Cheapest thing to try would be the stat. I could boil it to see if it opens and closes as it is suppose to.

Today my SGII is reading anywhere from 170 - 178 degrees for coolant temps and 205 for Oil Temps. My stat is either stuck open or my water temp sensor is shot.
