Amsoil 5w-40 Diesel Oil (CJ-4) with one quart of Lucas Original formula additive. I've been using this combo in not only my 2008 6.4 with 76k but all of my cars and trucks from Lincoln MKT to Audi A8 to Sprinter. Although Sprinter requires 5w-40 Euro to meet MB 229.51 standards

Running synthetic (let alone amsoil) you shouldn't even need the Lucas. Lol

I'm planning on giving the LE oil a try next go around. Which will be soon.

A little extra protection never hurts in my opinion. I think lots of people get turned off by Amsoil's marketing so they think it's not a good oil but the truth is it's one of the best, one of the first out there, and I've personally used this combo of the correct grade of Amsoil and Lucas for 15 years in my small business which is a Limo Service, and in all my personal vehicles and toys. Works well in the mower, etc.

Oh for sure.
I know it's good oil.
If you can afford the extra protection, no doubt it's a good idea.

Shell the clear leader in the poll.
Lots of advertising, a recognized brand, my buddy uses it, whatever.
Recently, Discovery channel had been running Rotella ads during auto themed shows.
For 6.7 guys it's either Rotella of Valvoline Premium Blue because that's what is on Ford's approved list.
Mobil and Delo (a few exceptions for Delo) did not make the cut.
Between the leading brands, the differences are so small, any of them do well.
Frankly, house brand Traveller from TSC and SuperTech fleet from WalMart can get you to 300k.
The only place I would consider using Lucas is to make the campfire smoke, and it doesn't even do that well.
No Kendall users? An excellent oil, reasonably priced. I'm surprised. Very low wear rates with Kendall, stout, a unique additive pack. Made by Phillips, same folks that bring you Motorcraft oils.

Depends on the motor you have. My 7.3 I run Lubrication Engineers 8700, it will clean out the
ring landings on high milage trucks so expect a little oil use in the beginning. Give it a little time
and it will stop, mine just used an extra quart. Engine will sound different too, more quiet. Change
at 5000. Trusted mechanics tell me that is the choice they have up through the 6.4 because of oil
contamination. especially for the non-diet trucks.
