Well i went to the local International dealer and bought a new cps and icp sensor. I replaced the cps because that was what i thought the problem was. Well it wasnt. It is still dying on me. I replaced the cps and took it for a test drive and it exhibited the same problems that i experienced yesterday morning on the drive to work. I have not installed the icp sensor yet. I've already spent $100 on the cps and $120 on the icp, it's getting to be expensive just throwing money into parts that dont seem to be fixing the problem.

When i try to restart the truck after it died i notice that for a while the "ding-ding" sound doesnt occur when i turn the ignition key on to try to see if the wait to start light comes on. And then it comes back on, then later it goes off and so on. Could this be of any help with the diagnosis?

Please help,
Tim

OK, lets stop for a second. Just because it dies does not mean it is the CPS. You mentioned that your MIL came on. What code did you find in the ECM? Sounds more like a possible cluster problem.

Yes the check engine soon light came on after it restarted one time. And another time when it restarted the check engine soon light didnt come on.

I removed the hypermax chip to try to narrow it down a little. I have no way to check the codes right now until the code scanner gets here early this coming week.

What is a "cluster problem" ?

Your instrument cluster. Alot of times indicated by alot of random codes, flashing dash lights and no start

Well i've driven it for the past few days and it hasnt died on me since i removed the hypermax chip. Hopefully that was the cause of the problem.

I'd try cleaning the contacts on the chip and ecm very well, and reinstall the chip. Those contacts will cause problems if the connection isn't good.

If the contacts are really dirty/corroded, there is a product called "Deoxit" We use it in the professional sound industry with great results.
