Engel Portable Fridge/Freezer

Thinking about going iceless. Would be a alot easier to just plug it in to the truck or the house. Wondering if anyone has any experience with these. Looks good on paper, but do they work in the real world. It gets just a little warm here in the summer and I could proably use it almost constantly.

Dont know the engel but i had (still have) an igloo that you
plugged in...it used a thermo electric chip...plugged it in one way
and it cooled, turn the plug around the other way and it warmed...

it is/was a real POS...you had to plug it in AT LEAST 24hr before
you expected to use it...and even then it never met my definition
or EXPECTATION of "cold"...hell it barely COOLed much less got
COLD.

I see the engels START at about 400 bucks...

Yeah, they're alot more than the Ilgoo and some others out there. That's why I'm trying to get some info on them. It would be worth it if it actually preformed as advertised.

I had one, that worked as you described. Don't want another one that doesn't work. This would be an expensive storage container.

I think I remember reading on the box of a cheap one that they will cool X number of degrees below what the outside temp is. On a 50 degree day they sounded good but on a 100 degree day they would be worthless. Are the Engel's rated the same way?

they engels are rated...but they show that they can cool the
"container" to 40* (w/in an hour) or so when the outside temps are 90*
