I'm looking to get into a wide body 16-20'+ enclosed trailer. As usual EVERYONE has the best quality. Please post your suggestions and recommendations to sift through all the hype.

I have looked at Pace American trailers, and they seem to be well built for a reasonable price, with a nice choice of options.

Nearly every manufacturer has different quality levels of their trailers. Pace used to be the bomb, but, they started selling through Home Depot and such, so started selling price point trailers. I have heard good things about Haulmark. Wells Cargo used to be really good as well. If quality and value are most important, you are really going to need to do some research.

buy a wells cargo the high end ( cargo wagon ) they use the tube frame not i beam you don’t want I bean construction .I beam has to much flex to it .and you don’t want a flat roof wells cargo uses a bow roof and that is stronger like bridge construction . if you are going to buy new order with the thicker outer skin ..40 it makes a big difference, not .30 and definitely not .25 .if you want a nice riding trailer get the torsion suspension only. and another thing have one built with the 5 foot tong makes a big difference in turning past a 90 degree angel

I have never owner a Wells Cargo , they look well built . I have owned several trailers though . I bought a new Pace in 04 , their best model in a 16 x 8.5 , It was the best of all of my trailers I have ever owned . I sold it this past spring and bought an 09 Haulmark 18 x 8.5 , once again best one they offer . I am very dissapointed in it ,

1 , Can't get the tongue lock to engage / disengage . Dealer says ohhh it's just new it'll break in .....WTF , never had that prob with the 6 other new trailers I have owned

2 , rear barn doors bind up like the trailer is out of square , dealer says I caused that building shelves inside . It did it from day one , it got worse with time before I even built the shelves

3 , Tongue and frame are peeling and rusting , Never been in salt until this past week , Dealer says ............Thats normal .............????????????

4, Trailer is black , it is discoloring all over and it won't even wax off . I take very good care of my stuff and this pos looks older than my 04 Pace did when I sold it and I havn't owned it a year yet . The 04 pace went through 5 winters .

Sorry for the rant but I hope this helps you make a decision .

I have heard good things about Haulmark.

I have to respectfully disagree.

When I used to do traveling industrial hearing testing, we had a brand new Haulmark that was converted into a mobile hearing testing unit.

After just one winter, we started getting corrosion holes thru the aluminum exterior skin. The corrosion appeared to be galvanic in nature, in places where the exterior trailer skin was in direct contact with steel frame members. There was no effort at the factory to put any kind of barrier strip between the dissimiliar metals to prevent corrosion.

Also the wood trim work inside the trailer was so sloppy, it was almost beyond belief. It was clearly done by someone who had no pride in their work.

But the biggest issue manifested itself after about 5 years of use. While being towed down I-90 in Wisconsin, the front axle came off, in turn, taking off the back one too. The resulting accident totaled a $30,000+ hearing testing trailer conversion and cost our company a significant amount of lost business.

I can't say if Pace, Wells Cargo or any other companies are any good. But I can tell you to avoid Haulmark like the plague.

Like I said, I heard. I stand corrected. I custom build my trailers anyways, because mine are open.
