Howdy,
It has been a long time since I posted a diesel question, however with 101000 almost trouble free miles I have one now. When changeing my fuel filter on my 2000 F-250 I noticed a few brass flecks of brass in the bottom of the fuel bowl. Is this time to start thinking about a new fuel pump?
Next question is how hard is it to change the ball joints on a 2 W/D, and what parts do you reccomend? I try to keep my truck in tip top condition as I use it to pull my camper on trips.
Thanks for all the help in advance.

The flecks COULD be from your pump... but could have just as easily been donated by your friendly neighborhood gas station:D You may want to check fuel pressure, and monitor your bowl closely. To do ball joints, you can use the "pickle fork" style seperator, but personally, and I suspect most others on here do not like to use these unless you have to. A ball joint puller or small 2 jaw puller makes it a lot easier. Or if they are not siezed(yeah right) a whack on the end of the bolt after you loosen the nut just may just do it. probably need a puller though. you should be able to borrow one from advanced. Also you'll need a good alignment when done.

NEVER HEAT OR BEAT a front end part.

that being said, a good whack from a 48oz cross-peen on the side of the knuckle should be enough to break the swedge holding the stud into the knuckle.

and you will need a press to change them.

if you have not done any mods inside the fuel tank...your neighborhood gas station will not be your problem..there is a very fine screan and some filters in the tank that wouldnt let it get though..id look to the fuel pump..it may leave you side the road soon...
