i was just wondering,my engine is stock,so should i have to worry about egts when towing, and if so ,what type of conditions would raise them to a dangerous point.my trucks a 5 speed manual,so on the highway,i have to pull in 4ht(cause for some reason 5th only wants to pull itself and not a pound more)but anyway in 4th at 70 im runnin around 2800 rpms,is that even safe, but i cant tow in fifth,so what do i do,i was towing 2k awhile back and 1st thru 4th was fine, then i hit 5th and im acceleratingslower then a turtle and it wouldnt go past 80,what gives

Yes you should be concerned about your EGTs. Get gauges soon! The EGT is easy to install, requiring only that you drill and tap (it is easy) the exhaust manifold. Under tow you can get over 1200 degrees F and can melt pistons if you don't watch it.

my engine is stock

straight pipe,10k mod,homemade air intake,

That ain't stock ;) You can get the egt high when towing in stock form but you would really have to lug it hard on a extended pull with only 2K. With that said I would still recommend a pyro for any heavy towing just to be safe. The turtle feeling you are getting when running 5th gear is normal with your "stock" truck, this feeling is why guys start adding power.

so is running around 2800 rpms in 4th gear safe,in my truck thats about 70,can i run like that for extended periods of time, and also there is no difference if i step on the throttle hafway,or if i just punch it,why is that,if i punch it ,feels the same as half throttle

On flat ground I am sure it would be fine, on a hill it is anyones guess. Only way to tell for sure is to install a pyro.

Install a chip after you install a pyro. You are experiencing the feeling of 215 horsepower.

That is were you want to be for lower egts, gotta get the turbo throwin in lots of cool air to keep the temps down. Unless you have a lot different computer code than me there is NO WAY possible to get it hot with 2k on it.
