EGT Install/help please

I have yet to actually hear of this happening to somebody.

right??..that would most certainly suck for that to happen to someone, i def would not be worried bout that one either, i kinda got no choice in my racecar anyways, all eight cylinders got egt's on em for the data logger! lol...and pre turbo is the best way like the other fellas said, get the temp before the torch has its chance to do its damage,

Here is the deal guys, a post turbo pyro is a wasted gauge... You are not watching EGT's to protect the turbo, its to protect the aluminium pistons in your motor. I will attch a melted piston from running a post turbo pyro.

It is not a set 200 or 300 or 100 or 1000 degree differance. It varies per the fuel rate, boost levels and loads on the truck.

Do yourself a favor and MOVE THE PROBE to a pre turbo area. Drill the manifold, drill the up pipe, it doesnt matter. 99% of the shavings will fall right in your face and anything that does go up will blow right thru the turbo with no effect at all.

I'll just add this,

Remember guys, this is the EXHAUST side of things we are talking about here. Any shavings that do happen to go inside the manifold will hit the turbine side and exit the tail pipe at a high rate of speed, not the compressor side which goes INTO the engine. Anybody that has had a turbine housing off surely has seen the crusty cruddy soot and crap hanging out in there.
