egr valve?

Well, it's that time of year and it's starting to get cold. Driving to work in the morning before my truck is up to operating temperature, I hear a "whooshing" sound from the motor and my egt's rise. It stops when I increase the throttle. That's the egr valve closing right?

That would be the Exhaust Back Pressure Valve. Just there to anoy the crap out of you. I would like to do away with mine....
