So I did a little maintenance this weekend and cleaned the EGR.
I only have about 32K on the clock.
Let me say just one thing about doing this, getting that thing off is a btch.

finally got it out

I had just drained the fuel separator and used the fuel to clean it. Figure it caused the gunk, it should take it off OK too.

While it was soaking, I cleaned out the manifold

Dont tell the boss, but I used one of the house glasses...
Soaking in diesel and using a soft wire brush works great.

all clean and ready to go back in

It may be my imagination, but after driving it for a week now, I swear it has more power again.
Now that I've done this, it's pretty easy. :)

EGR Cleaning.

Looks great. I'll have to give it a try. My motor has about 65K miles on it. I'll have to get a gasket and o-ring kit for the unit first. I'll post pictures of my unit once I pull it. :)

Does the o ring and gasket come in that same package? Or do you have the part # for the o ring? I have been needing to do this for ever.

Thanks,

Barrett

I just bought my gasket/2o-ring kit yesterday from Nappie.....it was 7buck 99....I have close to 80K on my 6.0 and when I pulled my EGR out, (bitch too) it was no where near that nasty....And, this is after driving 80 miles with a blown intercooler..... blowing black smoke at about 50 horsepower....Today is re-install day....UPS is bringing the rest of my stuff....tensioner....belt....idler pulley.... Now I can reinstall the EGR....The tensioner...belt...idler pulley... fan assembly new banks intercooler....radiator....new coolant...(debating on the coolant filter....and crankerup.........:dizzy

I just noticed a few days ago when I was at the Ford dealer, that they
advertise EGR cleaning for 161.50.

You sir, just saved yourself some nice coin. ;tu
