Ok heres my question. will this edge programmer be good for my truck while towing or bad? Just to let you know. im not a lead foot because im afraid of my truck. not in its power but its overheating miss haps. i just want to know if the extra horse power will help or hurt. I have a 26 foot toy hauler. my truck has over heated on me twice. mind you not i never had the gold coolent and a fan schroud in the front attatched to the radiatior. now i have both. did the coolent flush and got a fan schroud. ive had it pressure tested and my guy said it only lost a pound within a 4 hour period. he said that was pretty good. i just want to be good to the truck.

My truck has NEVER over heated on me in over 125,000 miles. I did drain and flush the cooling system at 100,000 miles and re-installed Gold Coolant. If I was to do it over I would (and will) use ELC coolant, Extended Life Coolant. CAT sells it as well as many others.

Did you conduct the coolant flush yourself? When I did my coolant flush I removed the t-stat and disconnected the lower hose connection on the degas bottle where I connected a garden hose to "back" flush the system and heater core and block. Back flushing is required to, atleast, try to clear the oil/EGR coolers of the crud. I flushed it for about 20 minutes and then re-flushed it with distilled water then added extended life coolant. I will never use that gold coolant again. I am also installing a coolant filter system to help keep it clean. Overheating engines can be a sign of beginning of other issues. Keep a good eye on it.

Don't be afraid to get on the fuel peddle once and a while to clean out the intake system. You don't want a clogged EGR valve/system.

No I did it myself. My coolant was pretty much clean (I have a coolant filter) so I just ran distilled water through it and drove it to get the water hot. Drained the water and re-filled it with coolant, the Gold Stuff.

yes i flushed my self. i followed the way the guy on you tube did it. im sure you know who it is. he seams to know his stuff. its powerstroke help on you tube. the first time the truck overheated was because the fan cluch wires got cut by the fan. so the fan didnt work. fixed that. the second time it overheated. the tow haul button was broke. went up a steap grade on a 100 degree day and it overheated. at that time i just had green collent and water, also i didnt have a front fan shroud. now i flushed and added gold collent and got a new front fan shroud and installed it. hopefully the collent and fan shroud makes a difference. hopefully. cleaned the egr valve and had the truck pressure tested and it was fine.

i put an evolution on my truck about 6 months ago and for hauling it was fine, you still have to watch your EGT and ECT as they will go through the roof if your flat out up a 6% grade on a 100* day.
i recently removed my program and went back to stock because when i'm not hauling anything it put so much fuel i could'nt burn it all and my turbo started to stick in different positions from all the soot i was making, on the lowest setting, i could put a serious black cloud from every stoplight, and i knew it was going to catch up to me sooner or later. I did'nt hammer it off every light to keep the smoking down because i was very unhappy how hard the transmission shifts, it was like hitting a brick wall, way to stiff for my likes and i did'nt have the trailer on often enough to warrant that kind of shift. I like the gauges and still use them, but i am looking for a different tuner at this time.
