what year truck, they are not universally responsive to tunes, but as a general statement based on the 4 month ordeal I went thru last summer with my 7.3 is w/o any upgrades you could have a ticking bomb or an over fueled, fuel guzzeling result. You need to have gages to see whats happening and have an understanding of what is happening. Its not usually plug and play!
What John said. X2
You need to have gauges before you do any re-programming. Or get a set of Tunes that also has gauges as part of the install.
Don't rely on the stock (minimal) dash gauges.*
Exhaust gas temp (EGT), Engine Coolant temp (ECT), Transmission Fluid temp (TFT) and Boost Pressure are the most important ones.
Get to know what the readings are under different normal driving conditions unloaded, and then under Loaded conditions and their differences, if you tow or carry anything.
THEN program the tunes in, paying close attention to the differences. (funny things can start happening to most metals at about 1000*, and fluids at about 200*)
Jus' a second .03 ?

* My Edge gauges tell me Real Time readings that change with engine/trans demands. The stock, dash gauges don't move.
