My truck sounds like the back pressure valve is allways on. It has that whooosh sound all the time, even when stepping on it. My boost pressure never has been very high but when I unplug the EBPV switch the noise goes away and I have alot more boost cruising down the road. I don't want to drive it that way tho cuz it makes any program I run defuel and do other weird stuff. Anybody know if I have turbo or back pressure valve problems?

RECALL 05E15 REVISED 1-10-06
Now included are certain 2004 and 2005 trucks built after 6-1-04. All trucks effected by this recall will now be reprogrammed using WDS version 40.7 or higher, or 41.1 or higher.
2004/05 Emissions and EBP Sensor Recall 05E15:
Certain 2004 and 2005 trucks are being recalled for computer reprogramming and replacment of the Exhaust BackPressure sensor and, in some cases, the EBP sensor connector. Econolines built between 12-9-03 through 5-28-04, and SuperDuties and Excursions built between 12-1-03 through 5-31-04 will have the EBP sensor connector replaced. SuperDuties and Excursions built between 9-29-03 through 11-30-03, or between 6-1-04 through 1-18-05, and Econolines built from 6-1-04 through 3-3-05 do not have the connector replaced. All of the above trucks will be reprogrammed to the latest calibration level. Since many trucks ahave already had the EBP sensor replaced with the current level part, the sensor part number should be inspected. If the part number on the sensor is 1850353 over a number starting with "C1", the sensor does not need to be replaced. Any other numbers, or unreadable numbers, will be replaced.

not sure if this will apply to your truck, but may be a start....hope it helps

probaly wouldn`t hurt to check EBPV tube to make sure there are no restrictions....

I don't think my truck falls into that recall since its a 06 but it could still have the wrong sensor or a bad one. I'll try to check out the tube but it look like a pain to get at.

here is some more info that might help. the EP valve measures exhaust back pressure so that the PCM can control the VGT(control valve for the turbo) and EGR system. if memory serves me correct, you had concerns with low boost numbers. basically the EBPV circuit is tide into the the VGT(turbo)circuit....so which can be affecting your boost Psi....hope this makes sense and helps

Took my truck to the dealership to have them replace the speed sensor in the rear end and told them about the ebpv deal and poor mileage. Now my exhaust doesn't hiss or woooosh anymore and they said they didn't find anything wrong or fix it. Funny that it fixed itself after doing it for over a year.

They might have. They did show me a printout of the mileage (14.1) after they took it on a 20 mile test drive. Thats better that I've ever got but it was all highway with no stop and go.
