Its bolted to the outlet of the turbo, the downpipe hooks to it. Its function in life is to close when the engine is first started to aid in cold weather engine warm up time.

Thanks,What happens if it does not open will it put a lag on the exhaust acting as a brake? I have some other problems but the scanner came up with ebpv sensor error. Odd because my issue has to do with trannie. But then again when I had a bad injector my wipers would not shut off. Gotta love it.

Yeah, its like stuffing a potatoe in a tailpipe. The ebpv code is fairly common to show on a scan, it doesnt mean anything is wrong, it just means that at one point the ebpv was not in the position it was supposed to be for one reason or another.

There is a Mod that can be done to turn it in to a lite duty Exhaust Brake...

If it will not open at all, my guess is your top speed is going to be about 33 MPH. If it is open a little bit, it will definitely retard your engine at all times. And engine working against a stuck exhaust valve could definitely manifest as transmission problems. What is you tranny doing? This might help in the discussion.

Thats hard to say, best advice is if you are having troubles with the EBPV actuating at improper times is to unhook the sense tube and see if it is sooted up.
