I have the turbo out and I took the EBPV Actuator apart in the turbo pedestal to see if it is leaking. I am not terribly impressed with the seals in there but it looks like it does not matter if it leaks a bit because the oil just runs back down the return. My piston seal is pretty hard and does not seem to fit tight, I am wondering is is supposed to be that way or should I get a new one? I stuck it in there and covered it with ATF and it does not leak past real bad. I am still testing that to see how well it holds. The kit is $163 and I have to order it in the next two hours to have it here tomorrow.

Sorry I'm late!

Reno,
Sorry I missed your post, I just got registered here. I'd generally look at the actuator rod before disassembly and decide then if it needs a reseal. Slight amount of slime and it would probably be OK. Thick coat of slime or a clean trail running down from the hole and it needs the reseal. Now, if you poured ATF in the bore with the piston in there should be NO leakage past the piston and if just the pressure of gravity is enough to make it leak then it definately needs the reseal.

You probably have it back together by now, I hope this helps.

Yeah, I bought a seal kit and the new piston was clearly much better than waht was in there. Also, the kit has an updated seal around the shaft so it should be much better now. It is back together and seems to be good. Thanks and welcome to the site.
