F250 7.3L 4x4 Crew Cab Auto trans.. Early 99 produced 10/98.
Should I keep this trans and have rebuilt?.. order one online?.. What is my best options?
I want to keep this truck for my lifetime. Currently have 468,000 miles and transmission rebuilt few years ago at around 210,000 I think and has worked flawlessly till now but the man who did that no longer available. I keep this truck immaculate and in top running condition and serves as my daily driver and pulls my 31.5 ft 5th wheel 4 to 6 weekends a year for wife and I.

I used to build transmissions and a good shop will clean and inspect every piece before using and some they just replace because of stress and normal ware and tare. If you have that many miles on that tranny, I would use it as a core and get a replacement. This way you get a transmission that you can trust and the shop can decide what parts they feel are okay to use again. Get the best that you can afford, it will pay off.

Appreciate your reply. I located a shop I feel I can trust. talked with the owner and told me pretty much same thing. He had a two week backlog of work but I drop my truck to him tomorrow the 19th. I leave Sunday for 4 weeks on vacation and be ready when I get back.
