My husband loves his toy truck, but I'm the one that has to take it in to get fixed. I get treated badly, because I don't know much about vehicles. I'm trying to learn to learn. Unfortunately the truck didn't wait for me. The first payment just came out and the truck is down. :soap Any suggestions would be so appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is redundant, but we have a 99 F-250 Superduty, 7.3L (am I missing any needed information?). :dunno :sorry

A week ago the hubby changed the oil since we don't know the last time it had been changed. He mentioned that the oil seemed watery. He put 15W 40 oil in and he seemed to think it ran a bit better. We drove it all week, and around town on Friday. On our way to Christmas we had just turned onto a road, he went to step on the gas and the truck stalled. The battery and oil light came on (its all I could see from my vantage point). He got it to the side of the road, tried restarting it and it wouldn't. We got out and there was a puddle of oil. He also said it seemed like it sprayed the hood, and was leaking from the front driver's side. There was never any leaking before and it always started great.

He said something about it being a 99.5, I'm assuming this means it has the filter on the HPOP. We bought a book for the truck, but it doesn't illustrate where exactly this is.

Thanks in advance for the help. Sorry I should have pit this in the 911 area....

It was oil not fuel that sprayed on the hood. Haven't had any other leakage if Amy kind, just oil, and it only seems to come out when he cranks it. Not sure what else specifics I can give. It's all I got, sorry. Did I mention I was a newbie....? :hail

Questions ??????

Ms. Buckethead,
There are no dumb questions, that is why we are all on this website. There are alot of very knowledgeable people on this site, and sooner or later you will be posting replies also. Keep your head above water, and usually when things are discussed they are for you to check, not just go out and buy new parts at a expense. When you do find the problem keep it in the back of your head, someone, somewhere will be asking the same question, which will make you the HERO.

Sounds like a bad o'ring in the oil system feeding the injectors. When you loose your oil pressure, the truck wont start. No oil to the injectors means no injectors putting fuel into the cylinders and that means no fireing of the engine. Did the oil pressure gauge show no pressure?

I appeciate the offer a great deal. Unfortunately, it went down on M-66 in Athens. Very inconvenient. I was able to not sound like a moron and thankfully didn't have to take it to the Ford Dealer. They are the worst! We know the guy who runs the Napa store in Athens and he gave me someone to take it to. He sends a lot of business there so I'm sure they will behave.

You all are so nice on here! Thanks. I've already read several threads that will come in handy. ;tu

Honestly I'm not sure. I couldn't see it and I was trying not to panic. I'm a little high strung, and I personally have bad luck with vehicles. I need to find one of these sights for Taurus'. :D I swear I have a lemon.

Thanl you.
