I live in Wyoming where snow is king. I also live on 5 miles of unmaintained road. In the spring it's like riding a snot slide to get home. Never had a problem getting stuck hunting or whatever and have owned duallys for the last 6 or 7 years. True they have less psi on the road because of the dual wheels, but I also buy 'em 4X4. If I slide I put it in 4 Hi. Sure it costs a little more for fuel, but I drive with less fear of falling....off the road. There's not much out here either, so on the highway I drive 85 mph. I test drove an '05 F-350 Single Rear Wheel just for fun, before I bought my dually. (I was getting a dually anyway to tow my 11,000 boat on a bumper pull trailer.) I was going down the Interstate at 85 mph and tried to take a nice freeway speed designed curve. I about crapped my pants when I was steering into the curve. I thought I was gonna fly off the road. The control is not there. You can take a curve at 100 mph with a dually like it's nothing. The other huge benefit is towing stability. With wind(We have TONS out here!), towing 10,000 lbs on the bumper with a SRW can just about scare you at close to highway speed. With a dually, your much more stable.
