Another question. Does anybody know if the chip engages the TC sooner or does it not touch it?

Thanks

A nice cold air intake might be the choice if your just looking for some more MPG's and a small boost in performance. It is an amazing difference between the stock and my afe stage 2.

The clutch needs to be replaced. Save your money on the tranny and spend it on the clutch. It will grind between gears as the clutch isn't disengaging completely.

if it was just the clutch,it would grind even if i wasnt movin tryin to shift. if im not movin or goin slow,i can shift fast,no grinding,so it has to be the trans right.

NO, I don't think you understand the clutch in these trucks. If you shift fast (if you can ) you are forcing the syncros. If you shift slowly you are not forcing them into the next geat and it will grind. One of the things that happens to these clutches is that they loose the ability to de clutch as they wear out. This causes most of the shifting problems. My '93 diesel did this and I changed out the clutch and the problem was taken care of. Good luck on your decision.
