4 inch turbo back should be more then ok... unlesss you get to the point of making serious power on the 7.3

The general consensious I have seen the last few years:

4" will be fine for 7.3's putting out amounts of power 95% of us will see. Only engines equipped with insane power adders like a "Flux Capacitor" would need a downpipe/exhaust that is larger.

3 1/2" downpipes seem to show max torque values at a lower rpm and may have a SLIGHT advantage in strictly towing applications compared to 4" pipes. But 3 1/2" pipes are less common and harder to find than 4".

I've got no complaints with my 4".

If you have a 2002 7.3, I don't think you have a "cat". I could be wrong, but to my knowledge, they quit putting cats on beginning with 99.5.

I don't think the 4" pipe will "bolt-up". The OEM exhaust is either a 3" or 3 1/2" pipe. If at all possible, just get a complete 4" system and be done with it. 4" systems come in good stainless, OK stainless or aluminized pipe depending on your pocket book and where you live. If you live down south, a aluminized system will be ok, if you live up north where a lot of road salt is used, get a good stainless system.
