Its been a long day guys and i have been trying to get my downpipe out for almost 12 hours. If anyone thinks they can help please jump here.

Heres how it falls. New exhaust kit says to cut downpipe where it bends to become level after straight shot down from turbo. DID IT
The thing wont come out. I have jiggled it wiggled it cussed it coaxed it and took a 2x4 to it. I even took off the engine lifting eye on the backside and no love. Where do i go from here? Thanks

Im to the point now where i am done. I will hire/pay/whatever someone to bcome get it and get the old downpipe out. I have gone through 3 saw zaw blades, my arms are cut up and bleeding and i have metal shavings down my pants. Its just not worth it anymore. I did begin to strip the insulation off pipe to decrease the dia of it thus hoping i could get it out. NOPE cant get it all the way off and now i have a hulluva mess. I have been workin on this FORKING pipe since noon today. When i try to manipulate it from underneath the flange uptop either hits the edge of the valvecover it i try to rotate the flange outboard to go down and if i try to rotate it inwards it hits the shield on the crossover pipe. Im going to try to get a better sawzaw tomorrow and cut the downpipe up above the frame rail so it dont hit that nor any of the front axle hardware. The 19.2 volt craftsman just dont have the ballz to cut it.

On a positive note, i was told today i will be the father of a BOY!!! wooohooo. Thanks for the help guys.

ps its a 2004 f-350

The key is a GOOD quality sawzall blade. If you have gone through three you don't have the right one. DozerDoug cut mine in half with a good blade in about a minute.

Doug,

Congrats on the fatherhood!!:thumbs

Sorry to hear about the down pipe problems. I will tell you that you really have to BEAT the downpipe severely, to get some of them to come loose. Sledgehammers have been used in several instances to get them to break loose.

Its out!

Shes out. New pipe went right in. Had to get a dremel from lowes and rip the straps off the pipe that hold the factory insulation on. Thanks to everyone who helped though.

Shes IN

Shes in with only a few small i hope quarks to work out. Seems the downpipe is resting against the firewall where the firewall comes out. Its like a 1/2 inch lip on the firewall sticking out where the seam is pressed together. I heard a vibration at a lil more than idle which i think is the shield that is under the downpipe right where it hooks onto the turbo. When you hit a bump driving get on it i believe the engine is flexing and the downpipe was getting nailed on the firewall. Ill either have to trim the lip on the firewall or try to manipulate the downpipe some more. Is it normal to hear the truck whisteling like hell now riding down the road or is that a sign of a bad exhaust leak because the only leak i feel is at idle and its minute from one of the clamps on the system. Just enough of a leak to cause a little oil to leak out.

im curious WHOS exhaust (make) and what size pipe did you buy ?

ive got the MBRP 4" and never had any problems (i didnt cut my
down pipe either...just dropped one side of the trans brace).

to get the down pipe OFF youve gotta spread the clamp or
REMOVE the clamp @ the turbo...since the pipe and the turbo
flange sit in a groove of the clamp.
