I have a 2006 F250 with the regular black door handles but ive seen the color matching ones on other trucks. Do those only come from factory or can they be switched out, or are they covers?

I've seen them for sale on ebay painted to match your truck. You may get lucky at a salvage yard and find a set in the right color as well.

You could also buy a set of standard latches and take them to a local body shop and have them painted...or paint them yourself for that matter.

There are also chrome covers available that just stick on. I had thought before about getting a set of them and painting them, then sticking them on.

They are handles for the Excursions and the "Sport" model trucks. Depending on your color, (if you have the same that one of those models came in), you should be able to order them from a dealer, or a site like Powerstrokeshop.com.

Ima see if I can find them at my local salvage yard. The thing about painting the stock ones is that it has texture and i want that smooth feel, so i might have to order the chrome ones, sand them, and paint them

I know guys have sanded the texture off the stockers and painted them...just depends on how much time you have to not drive it I guess.

It depends on what grit paper you use...take the better part of the texture off, then go to a fine paper. Just keep working down. As long as you don't get after it with a 36 grit...lol. I'd say start at like 180 or so. You'd just have to see what it does.

You would be having to prime them anyway, so you could give them a light wet sand to get rid of the little imperfections before the color is shot.
