CRJ & ERJ A&P Mech.
After a month and a half of waiting for my turbo,
working on it during warmer weather ,
Christmas trips ,
housefulls of relatives
and a case of bad restaurant food
,
my D66 install is all done.
A decent road test will have to wait until at least tomorrow. Then I'll get a better idea of smoke amounts, during start, idle and different chip settings.
I did take it for a easy going trip to Papa Murphy's to get a pizza for supper. I just wanted to see if everything was working OK after sitting idle for almost 2 months. But there is definately more SOTP pull and that was in my "econo" setting on the chip. I might get a better test run tomorrow, but I got a new HD flatscreen for Xmas , a digital cable box and there's football on tomorrow.
FWIW, the Car Quest donut gaskets recommended by Bean for the up-pipes seem to be working good. The exhaust brake is making some good noise at the tailpipe at idle which is a good indicator of a lack of exhaust leaks upstream of the turbo.
