Hey guys im new to powerstrokes but not new to diesels been around them and owned a few (mainly 6.5's and a cummins). I just bought this truck an 05 extended cab longbed lariat about three weeks ago cause i got tired of gassers again (shouldnt have sold my last diesel but thats another story). So far i have added a 4" turbo back exhaust, bought an Edge insight, and done the high idle mod. I have a few questions to ask.
1) I am getting ready to do an egr delete and new cooler and here is the list of parts i am getting shortly is this all i need or too much? And is there something else you would replace in this process that i didnt list? Right now the delta is about 7 or 8* at 65 sometimes it hits 11* for short times so i know its time for this.
-EGR Delete
-Oil cooler
-STC fitting upgrade
-Blue fuel spring
-Intake gaskets kit
-Standpipes and Dummy plugs
-Coolant filter
-Flush the system and put ELC in
-HCFM drain plug
-6.4 banjo bolts
-EGT probe for insight
-Fuel pressure sensor for insight
-Harpoon tank
-CCV mod
-Clean Turbo (do i need anything to take it apart and clean?)
Anything else while i have it torn down this far? I know some are gonna say ARP studs but i dont have the room to do this right now but soon very soon it will happen. I dont even know how i am gonna flush the cooling system with out the neighbors complaining but oh well.
2) I have a code that gets thrown when ever i lay into it but no wrench light or CEL it is p2290. Some say its the stand/dummy plugs, HPOP going, or ICP sensor or pigtail. Sensor and pigtail are dry inside. ( i think..... Its the one on the passenger valve cover towards the front right? If so then its dry)
Since the sensor is Dry should i just replace it too or wait till the rest is done? It only comes on when i lay into it or try to drive away when it is cold.
On my insight ICP pressure at WOT is only at 2300 or so psi good no good?
3) HPOP pressure do i need a seperate guage to read? or is HPOP and ICP the same or close? Never really could find a true answer since the insight reads ICP but not HPOP.
Sorry for such a long post i just want to get the most out of this truck with little problems from here on out since i drive to work 53 miles one way 5 days a week sometimes 6 and want a reliable truck while i am at it.
