Are you talking about the air intake modification....zoodad mod.

Haven't tried it myself because from what I have read there are no benefits from those that have tried it.

I was wondering if the do dad mod is worth messing with.

I differ with the responces.. so far :dunno

It's not Whiz Bang Yah Hoo but the Zoo Dad mod Does provide a less restrictive air flow source than the OEM design... for heavy throttle demands.. if you have OEM set up or an up-graded air box.. like the AIS ??

Open air.. like a Tymar ? No need to do it.

Don't bother - you'll shorten the life of your air filter, cause you'll be ramming everything directly into the filter - rain, bugs, leaves, dirt.

I invented the "Doo Dad" mod.....named it that only in fun at the time because i modified the process to better suit my wants.....

and i too take a difference of opinon on how it preforms....i have proof of mileage increase of about 2-3 mpg better w/ it.... let me find the link....

i was only getting 180-210 miles per tank....upon completion of this i now go 390-480+ per tank....all done w/ no issues to the air filter...check it a few times..

as you can see, i used threaded caps, sink screens, street elbows which would funnel the air into the snorkel...the caps either are fully closed, w/ a little hole or 100% open....used the closed caps while plowing OR in rain storms (for fear of water in filter - however that lasted for all of a couple of months and i have not used a cap on this system for well over a year...no issues!!!)

i am stock otherwise....i only imagine what i'd get w/ a tuner and exhaust....

to each his own....

Thats the cleanest "doo dad" mod I've seen;tu. First time I have heard someone put numbers too it. I may try this after I upgrade my intake....or I may look at doing another intake designe (this post has got me thinking :sly)

I had mentioned this before about do this in the intercooler/turbo system but maybe it would work in place of the "doo dad"... shooting in compressed air. I've thought about it and figured that in one aspect you would not have to be going a certain speed to shove air into the intake. Just press the pedal and maybe have a switch underneath or on top of the pedal, that way as soon as you push down compressed air is being shot in only when you are driving. I don't know what the cfm capability would have to be to equal or better the doo dad mod. You could even do it after the filter. Just thinking out loud....:innocent

You were getting 180 - 210, and with the mod you get 390 - 480+!!!!!!

Double the mileage????

Go sell your snake oil somewhere else.

Nice catch...I didn't even realize those numbers. I get about 450mpg per tank right now with a 30gl tank. Just 2-3 more mpg would only increase it 60-90more mpg....not even close to double.

Jetpilot beat me to it. I did the math; the claim is 118%-127% better gas mileage! I think he just must have made a mistake entering the #s.
