Also I saw the acronym HPOP often but never a description. Intuition now leads me to beleive that this may be a High Pressure Oil Pump. Is this so???

If that is the case it would seem one of those may allow for more power/fuel to flow from the injectors. I also assume though that those are very very expensive.

Yeah, the HPOP is the High Pressure Oil Pump, and the bigger dual HPOPs are not cheap. Last I checked Beans Stealth was sittn at about 2G's

Ouch is right 2G's eh?

As for the block I beleive it is dirt color :) hahah I don't know. Must not be blue or I would have noticed though. Yet I did use the pictures in anothe split shot thread and I have the same space ship looking thing as circled in red so I'm 99% sure I have split-shots.

Still wondering if I can pull out some more power though. Anywone out there running them that can attest to anything?

Thanks that was some very good reading.

I understand everything that was mentioned but I do have one question and maybe my understanding of Thermal Dynamics is missing a key theory.

Why would guys not be going for the Split Shots if they can deliver more fuel. You mention single shots becuase they can get more fuel in faster, but is Power not a direct function of the amount of fuel (BTU) burned? If you can burn just under 20% more fuel out of the Split shots should you not be able to get more power. And on top of that you have less **smoke** unburned fuel thus a higer percentage of that total fuel burned anyway.

I think I see where the draw back is with the High Pressure Oil delivery to all of the injectors. I remember reading an article about a High Pressure Oil Crossover. I assume this helps give more oil to the other side of the cyclinders and helps maintain high pressure during hard acceleration.

Also I saw the acronym HPOP often but never a description. Intuition now leads me to beleive that this may be a High Pressure Oil Pump. Is this so???

If that is the case it would seem one of those may allow for more power/fuel to flow from the injectors. I also assume though that those are very very expensive.

Thanks again, When I get off work I have some more research to do.

Guys dont go for the splits because as I said they flow about 110-120 cc's of fuel. Modded injectors (singles) flow between 140 on upto 160 cc's for the small injectors. You can have a set of modded injectors for under $100 per hole (these are rebuilt jectors, not "new" injectors). If I wanted to put a set of splits in I could spend about $250 a hole. And again, splits take longer to get the same amount of fuel into the chamber and consume more HPO doing it. I'd be willing to put my modded singles up against any set of splits for an efficiency test, MPG against MPG.... They'd be the same and I'm going to have the ability to make alot more power than the split can. Now I will have higher particulate emissions and NOX emissions but......... just sayin:sly

Gotcha,

But for the unmodded fuel injector "stock" you can push more it sounds like. I agree that a quicker squirt and 140-160 is a much better option. But I'm not going to get upgraded injectors that I know of. I know how the addictions go though...but I have to finish my cummins 56 before I get to crazy on this truck.

I put a chip in a long time ago that did virtually nothing It was my first flea bay experience ohh well. I notice a tad bit better MPG's while towing and a small amount of black smoke if I really get on it and especially in higher altitudes. Such a small amount I wonder if it even really works.

But I didnt' get those gauges for nothing :) I'm going to be chipping here soon.

But I sear the last annoying post on this subject.....So as far as STOCK goes I can push more out of these splits then the other stock 100cc Injectors.

Thanks guys.

To be sure you have splits you need to pull the VC's and look at the tops of the injectors. ABs are '97 splits, AA's are singles and AD's are Superduty splits.

Don't think you'll be able to squeeze much more power out if you have splits since some people set the ICP code with singles and the early HPOPs.
