I raced a 2004 Duramax 2500 4x4 the other day. First time I raced another diesel. we stayed even in the beginning, but he pulled ahead toward the end. M buddy in his 95 7.3 was behind us wacthing. Wen we stopped to get fuel, he said that super duties are generally heavier because they have larger heavy duty parts and that could be why he pulled away. I didnt think there was any difference between Super duty and heavy duty. I thought it was just a name differetiation.

I know I was a little heavier because my engine is larger, I had a long bed and he had a short bed, I have a 1 ton and he had a 3/4 ton.

Last year at our local fair truck pull a 1 ton reg cab d-max made the 6500lb class without even taking off his tailgate or spare tire. My old 01 F-350 reg cab weighed 7200lb striped down. The 06 weights 8200lbs. He can out run you but put a big trailer behind and do it again and you should be the one in front.

The names of the two doesn't make the difference. Ford just has meatier parts. I saw them do a test beteen the ford and chevy frames. Both frames were secured by three corners and on the other it had a weight pulling it down. The chevy frame had more flex. Not to mention that you had like an extra 2'-3' lenght on him and 1/4 ton bigger. The size of the engine doesn't really matter. Both the 6.0 and 6.4 weigh more than the 7.3.
