I was at the dealers today for my CPS fix and while waiting a lifted ranger came into the lot. Sounded bad at first, until it drove by. It was a diesel in the ranger truck. FRICKEN AWSOME!!! When he left the lot he got into it and it was sweet.

I asked the tech guys about it and found out it has a Cat diesel out of a skid loader, with a six speed dodge trans.

I want it!!

Sorry, no pics.

I could handle one of those.

I think the Ranger's they make for Africa come with a small Powerstroke in them already.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

im sure there is a ranger, or other small pickup made by all manufacturers with small diesels all over the world, just not here in the US. i have been to guatemala, belize, and sint maarten, and there was awesome small vehicles in those places. a lot of small cars too. i couldnt find any here in the states, i look on ebay all the time.

1983/1984 There was a ranger, with a 2.2 ltr option, the engine was made by Mazda. if I remember, 84 hp, 110 ft lbs of trq. 0-60 in about 4 days... however it would get up to 50 mpg if you treated it rite...

the 80's rangers were slugs. 4 days is optimistic if you had a tailwind!

mitsibishi mighty max/dog ram 50 was a mitsibishi 2.6L turbo diesel. that thing rocked. i wish i'd have bought one then. the power ram d50 was the cats meow.

the current overseas rangers are baby powerstokes.

my uncle had a jeep wagoneer with an inline 6 isuzu, he said that thing was build like a truck, had plenty of power, and got excellent mileage.

I remember that...
the Perkins diesel Cherokee of about the same vintage.. that was an absolute MUTT too..

before the Cummins, Dodge used a 6 cyl Perkins that damn near killed the truck division..

before that we had the Olds 350 diesel..

and people wonder why Detroit has never been big on stink-motors...
every time they try one under about 6 litres displacement, they suck royal azz...

Hopefully the new 1/2 ton diesel pickups won't fall into this category since they will be in the 4.0 litre category.
