It will run perfect unloaded, it just did this while he was loaded. The power never came back at 2500 - anything less was fine

I'm guna make SWAG'n say: Intercooler Boot, prolly the top, driverside. It's either loose, or has a small split/hole in it. My SWAG comes from you saying the power is OK when not under a load.... When you have yer foot in it, yer push'n alot of air, don't take much of a leak to loose the grunt.

But... Fuel & Air filters too.

Here's a little info to help troubleshoot a potential boost leak problem.

Quoted from the: http://www.dieselsite.com/

SPECIAL NOTE: Got a boost leak you can't find? Assemble a kit similar to the one shown below and attatch it to the turbo inlet. Make sure it's clamped tight. Set the regulator on your air compressor to 20 psi. Slowly open the valve and let the air into the turbo. If you have a leak, no matter how small, it will be come apparant in a second or two. Do not keep the turbo pressurised for more than 30 seconds at a time as you are spinning the turbo with no fresh oil curculating. You'd be amazed just how small of a leak you can quickly locate with this method.

Well I figured it out! The air filter looked like someone took it out and stuck it in mud then put it back in the truck---pretty simple right. He took it to have the oil change a couple of days ago and the guy said he changed the air filter, shows on the reciept  Go figure...went ahead and tighten all the boots just to be sure. Oh yeah no codes

Thanks for the help guys, turned out to be fairly simple!!:sweet

Sounds like when I borrowed dad's '03 CTD to run out to the farm. He'd only had it about 4 months and I was rompin on it pretty good. Before I left I was doing the normal underhood inspection I do, noticed the fileter minder pegged in the red:innocent Figured it was my right foot, opened the stock air box.:wow :wow It had a quarter inch thick layer of dust on about half the filter.

He had a lube place "replace" the filter like a month before that. I hate these places. I've heard of them keeping k&n drop in filters by telling unsuspecting "new to them" car owners that got lucky enough to get a used car with one. They tried that on a girls Mustang in high school, she knew better.:roflmao :roflmao
