well I knew it was coming. 1.5 miles from home on way home for the day, come around a curve onto the homestretch, bam! Truck is dead. Coast to stop in outside lane of 6 lane road, restarts, makes it about 100 yards, dead again no restart. I made one wheel into the driveway of a restaurant and not enought umph to get in. A guy in a dodge had to pull me into the parking lot. Way to end a day. CPS bidding doesnt end until Friday and I can't withdraw my bid. I may be bussing it to work the rest of the week. Geez. At least the bus is a diesel!

well things are looking up.... I met the tow truck which was too small despite explaining to AAA what I needed, we visit and decide to try to start it. It does! He followed me home and took me back to get the wife's car. So now at least it's home in my driveway. Night didnt turn out too badly!

I'll be riding the bus with choruses of Weird Al running through my head for the rest of the week. Oh joy!

So you need to order two. Gotta carry a spare CPS, 10mm 6 point socket, 3" extension and ratchet. Ever read the Infamous CPS Thread?

yeah I've read it but have been in denial - "wont happen to me". At least she is home. I emailed the ebay guy and asked if he would let me "buy now" but have not heard back yet. I'll be looking for the 2nd one too. I plan to print the instructions we have here and put it all in the glove box.

Buy a lifetime CPS from O'Reilly and install it. Keep the ebay CPS as your back up to get you to O'Reilly's and you'll never buy another CPS again.;)

no kidding! ESPECIALLY since they dont seem too concerned about giving adequate info to the truck driver. The guy last night said he pulled up before I got there and thought to himself - "ain't no way Im pulling that". Imagine if he had had to drive an hour to find me!

I can relate to that. 4 or 5 years ago when my PCM went out I called the tow truck company myself and told them what I had. They sent out a little Chevy truck and I know we were popping wheelies on the way to the shop

Good luck on your CPS search..
