Hey folks,

I have a 2004 f-350 that has not moved in 6-7 weeks. It started when the temperature really dropped. It was hard starting, turn it over, and over.....That went on for about 3-4 days. I figured it was glow plug related, so i ordered a set. Got the plugs THEN realized what a PITA it was to get to them! So i took it to the mechanic who has done work on my TDI from time to time. After it being up there for 5 weeks he tells me to "get this thing out of here,......It would take me a week to get them out,.......find someone who knows more about them" So, I THOUGHT I found somebody else. WRONG! The next mechanic said "I don't work on 6.0's, I was thinking 7.3 when i said to bring it in." So currently it is sitting in my driveway collecting snow flakes and it won't start at all.

When I plug it in, it "wants" to start, but doesn't. I replaced the GPCM, because that was an easy "shot in the dark."

Anyone have any other ideas? I still havent replaced glow plugs, should I do this (looks hard)?

Does anyone have a GOOD mechanic to refer me to in CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA?

(I will let it rot away, before I take it to the local dealer, so that is out of the question!)

I took mine in to the Dealer a few weeks ago , to get the glow plugs doenand they did it reasonably fast and for a reasonable price. I was happy, but the problem with my truck was not glow plugs, but the FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module). When that was replaced, my truck started like new. It was not the glow plug circuit nor the glow plugs!

Thanks. I'll have to keep that in mind. Hopefully I can find somebody to scan for codes to see what comes up. The CEL came on right before this all started going on. I forgot to mention that in my original post.

A shot in the dark here, but how are the batteries, do they hold a charge under a load?

You really gotta get that code read before you go nuts here. That could reveal your whole problem instead of spending good money after bad changing parts. Just my $.03 (inflation)
Best of Luck
