I live north of Wylie, near Lake Lavon, but have several friends at work in Plano whose kids to go Wylie schools. They seem to like it. Murphy is actually in both Plano and Wylie districts. I'm not sure, but I think Murphy Road may be the divider with those on the west side going to Plano and the ones on the east side going to Wylie. One person at work moved from Wylie to Murphy and their kids still go to Wylie. They still live in the Wylie district. I know another person who used to work at my company but now works in Dallas that rides the DART train from Plano to Dallas every morning. She lives in McKinney and drives to the DART station on Parker Rd at the north end of the line. She says she can be downtown in a few minutes without all the hassles of the traffic.
