Excellent Joe! Can't wait to get our Dahl 100 kit also ;tu

Was thinkun of installing a vacuum gauge with the kit but unsure yet.

Thanks Bill. I'm happy with the whole install. Don't know if thats a good mounting location for you 4wd guys. Clearances and all. I figure, if I hit the filter.... I'v already bottomed out on the Pan & Tranny ;) .

On the vacuum gauge ? I have an "In the Cab" fuel pressure gauge, I watch it purdy close so.... any drop in fuel pressure (?).... Filters is what I look at first. I just changed the OEM filter cuz I noticed my fuel press. was dropping off a bit... changed the filter... Fuel press. went right back up to 70 psi @ idle, 65-68 running.

OBW & FWIW folks... That OEM filter had'nt been in there that long, maybe 6 or 8k miles. I HAD to fill up one day.... the delivery truck had JUST delivered a load of diesel... I think I got a load of Crapola from the service tank being stirred up from the delivery.... If you can, figure out when yer station takes a normal delivery.... DON't fill up on that day, or at least wait a couple hours. :dunno

"3.) Since you are putting the filter in an area where the fuel line is solid steel, you will need to replace the line from the tank to the filter, then from the filter to the pump. Don't panic, you won't need to drop the tank... I went to my local hose suppier (Spokane House of Hose, I kid you not... ) and got about 6 feet of clear poly hose. Then, you sit your butt down with your feet towards the center of the truck, and your body leaning back against the inside of the bed skin, right in front of the rear tire. This will cause your head to be right in the area where the frame rail dives down away from the bed structure, between the frame rail and the side of the truck. Don't lean too hard on the bed skin, it is really soft and you can push it out super easy. If you could lean on it, this part would be super simple, but you can't, so your abs will be sore when it is all said and done. In the location where the bed rail dives away from the bed structure, you will see the pickup and return lines for the fuel tank in the 4" gap between the bed and frame rail. It is tight, but I am 6'3" and 295 pounds, and I got in there, so unless you are a friggin bohemoth, you should be able to, also. The supply line (IIRC) is furthest towards the rear of the truck (the bigger of the two lines). Use your quick disconnect tool (you have one, right?) "

Yes i am a behemoth:eek:
fuel line release tool? OMG no i dont have one either

Joe, it isn't a matter of ground clearance. The front driveshaft takefoff runs right through the area that you mounted your filter. (Based on your description) There just isn't any room there to mount anything. That is why I went to the area that I decribed.

As far as the QD tool, they are available pretty much anywhere (auto parts stores).

Well I got one of my two E-bay bought used Dahl's rebuilt and now mounted. I used Bob Riley's hose kit and fittings from Diesel Site. Fabbed up a bracket to mount it to the top of the frame rail to maximize ground clearance and to get it better protected since mine is a 2wd. :sweet http://community.webshots.com/album/117243477YNiGKo
See some pics of the install in my album.
