Help Wanted(Engine Swap)

This is my first time posting on the website. I have used the website for three years but am just know getting aroung to posting. I have a 95 F-350 crew cab long bed w/7.3. My engine has 269,000 miles on it and I have a chance to buy a 2000 engine pretty cheap. Has anyone done an engine swap in the 94 to 97 year range? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

very easy!id rather do one of these motor swaps than do a gas job!i can have the engine out and on the ground in about 2 hours.back in and running down the road in about 3 hours.the biggest pain is fords bright idea for torque convertor bolts.who ever thought of that idea should be shot.click the pictures link in my signature and you will find pics of mine with the motor out.

do the 2000 have the mechanical fuel pump in the valley? that would be the only issue i could think of.

Nope, Superduty's (+99's) have an electric pump.

Gotta ask though, why at 270,000 miles are you looking to change engines? Are you experiencing difficulties with the old gal? If not..... you gotta lotta miles left in that block.

so i forget, is there just a blockoff plate that he could remove and put in his mechanical pump, or is it solid cast and he would need an aftermarket or SD fuel pump?

I pull a fifth wheel camper and I wanted a little bit more power. Im worried that if I start changing things and adding more power that it will cause more cylinder pressure and I will start having problems. I have already changed the turbo housing, air itake, exhaust and chip. My next step maybe injectors. Thats the one that worries me.

welcome to the site!!!

i think you will need to get the pcm and everything for the 2000 engine. i wouldn't think he would need to switch the up pipes or any of that. the up pipes on the 2000 engine may have a different bend and may hit the firewall, but you could bend in the firewall like we have to with our downpipes. i figure you will need an aftermarket fuel system and stuff for it and the intercooler, IC pipes, etc.

is your truck an auto or 5 speed?
