Of the 12 people I personlly Know that have a 99/01 Superduty with a 7.3 I know of none including myself that has HAD to replace the CPS. I did replace the CPS on my 01 but I did that because of web sites like this that people tell you they are all bad. My truck was missing I was told the CPS Could be causing this. It was not, the OEM CPS is on the shelf along with a TPS, Speed Sensor and a Vacume Pump All good parts I've take off and replaced because of what people tell you on this and other sites!!

Anything that shuts down any motor on a Steep Mountian Road is Deadly!! Including running out of fuel!!

There have been far too many people having trouble with CPS to just state that you have not had any and then just dismiss the issue as if it does not exist. Lucky you. Now, realize that many of us have had troubles, and many of us feel that the issue is so prevalent that it should have been solved long ago.

There was a guy called J_apeterson on TDS that felt the same way you do. Simply because you have not had the problem, it does not exist. Wake up. This is a pretty silly way to look at the world...

Oh, and BTW, all of this "advice" that you got that was so bad was just people trying to help. You made the decision to act upon that and change out perfectly good parts. Don't blame the people nice enough to take the time to help you out, without any promise of payment or otherwise. We are here to help. if you don't want to listen, don't. If you do, then don't complain when you get bad advice.

Where Have I Complained, Just Stating Facts!! I never said I didn't appreciate the Advice. As a matter of fact I use the advice.

All I’m saying is take Advice on these sites with a grain of Salt!!

If you read a lot of post, some of the CPS changed, were not the problem.

Surely you don't mean that. I haven't forgotten the times before the web's easy acces to info. There's seldom a week that passes where I don't have to look up info to keep one of the family's vehicles on the road. It's only through these sites and the contributions from their memberships that enables me to make repairs swiftly and economically, as well as keep myself informed on preventive maintenance issues. Real world issues.

So....if you meant it, take it back.:nutkick:

This thread is about a recall on the CPS. From reading your threads you will not be needing a recall. I want to put this thread back on topic now before this thread gets out of hand, and begins to look like one from the other site. You are more than welcome to start a thread about your CPS feelings, but this thread is not for it.

"....because of web sites like this that people tell you they are all bad.."complaining about advice that others offered we'll come back to this in a second.

"...All good parts I've take off and replaced because of what people tell you on this and other sites!!..."
again.....on same post

You conflict yourself here. You found advice on an internet site that fixed your problem. This is what I refered to earlier as research.

BTW: A Web Site did give me the answer to the miss. The Dieselmans Site!! I didn't know there was a Dieselmans site until I was just about to sell the truck!!

Nobody on this site is charging for their opinion. If you took the advice of an "internet expert" to save yourself a buck, then the decision to change your cps with a missing engine was your decision. Maybe you should have done more research.

As far as what was wrong with mine. I was running the wrong type of oil in truck. It was a very good Diesel rated oil but not a CI-4 rated!!

You found that out doing research

Take some of the best advice I can offer you and put it in the glove box.

I replaced my factory CPS last August. My truck started stumbling/bucking/missing alot and then would smooth out. The check engine light never came on but it stored a code, I don;t recall what it was but my boss hooked up a scanner and said it threw a CPS code and to swap it out. It fixed the problem. I don't think(IMHO) that they are either good or bad, at least from my personal experiences.
