Counting steering box splines

FWIW, Harvey @ Red Head can figure out pretty good what you have if you know your build date. I was pretty sure I had a 32. He asked me what my build date was, 11/98 which he confirmed as a 32.

There were a lot of front end chages in Mar 99, brakes, bearing hubs, sway bars etc. It might be possible steering gear was changed also.

Man...I just dont know if I can justify the cost of getting the redhead...I know its great, but at nearly twice the price...thats tough to swallow.

If I towed BIG loads and often, I think it would make more sense to pony up for this. But for a daily driver and occassional towing vehicle...the factory box has served me fine.

I keep having to remind myself...this is an 8k lb truck...not a race car.
