Took the truck to Discount tire today to have the tires rotated and balanced......they called me out to the shop to have me look at the tread on one tire in the balancer as it was moving back and forth about 1/4-3/8".

They said Mr Tbar..........you have a bent wheel. I said........no, look at the edge of the rim........it is running true. Discount tire man says no we feel the rim is bent but to be sure we will take the tire off and spin the rim by itself. I said no problem......knock yourself out.

Sure enough.......nothing wrong with the wheel. Next they spun up another tire and it did the same thing. They looked at the sidewall and said it is starting to seperate.......we will order you two new tires covered under warranty. I said kool and left.

Next i went across the street to Firestone to get the front end aligned after having replaced the ball joints, track bar and front stabilizer shock a couple of weeks ago. They put all the equipment on it ran their test and called me out in the shop...........

They said........Mr Tbar, we find the front end on this truck to be within spec and there is nothing wrong with it. I looked at the print out and sure enough the numbers were within spec.

Wow...........207k with new ball joints, track bar and only one previous front end alignment and its still in spec..........I'm thinking I am waaaay ahead.

Truck still road walks a little bit and I am hoping uneven wear and broken sidewall belts on the front tires are the cause.

Heres hoping he new tires do the trick.

Nice to hear a Tire Shop exsperience with a good >honest< ending T. the Firestone store Too ;tu

Had a similar exsperience yesterday with Brakes.

Don't drive the wife's WindStar much, but drove it Saturday. Noticed the brakes Pulsing. 98K on OEM disks & shoes.. took it to our Tire & Brake guy for Brake job.

He called me 'bout an hour later, said: Mr. Joe.. you got plenty of brakes left.. all we need to do is Turn the Rotors:eek::eek: I didnt know what to say for a second'r two :eek: said, Okay just do what you think is best.

I knew it was time for tires, but he mentioned they were worn so I told him to put 4 new ones on.

Picked it up.... They didnt even charge us for the Rotors being turned.

Kinda re-news your faith in things, don't it ??

That is some good news. Better then when I took my truck for new front rotor. Didn't tighten the lugs on the tires after they put it back on broke 3 lug stripped 2 and the last 3 and the tire fell off when I pulled over and jacked the truck up. Not happy. I nolonger have to worry about front alingment or paying for brake checks. Tbar congrats on the very well maintance of you truck.

Lance, my truck wanders a bit and it turns out I have another bad inner tie rod. You may want to give yours a once over.

A few months ago I brought a tire to get patched up to a local joint around here. Gave them the tire and came back an hour later. Told them I was there for the tire on the slip and he said pull around and a guy will meet you out there. Pulled around and the guy put it in the truck and started to walk off. I said, "Hey wait dude! I didn't pay anything yet. How much is it?" "Its free" he said. "A patch job doesn't cost anything here." I didn't even buy those tires there so that was pretty cool. I didn't even know it when I turned it in. When I need some "real" work, they will get my buisness for sure.
